That's right people the time has finally come. Blog Design Solutions will be released on February 20th; now is your time to pre-order your shiny copy. Andy Budd, Simon Collison, Michael Heilemann, John Oxton, David Powers, Rich Rutter, Phil Sherry and I worked pretty hard to craft this into a useful book. Let us know if we succeeded.
From the publishers site:
In this book, a team of renowned web designers take you through the ins and outs of putting together great blogs. They waste no time harking on about the philosophy of blogs, or the community behind them. Instead, they get straight to the practical details, showing how to set up a basic blog in some of the world's most popular blogging engines – Movable Type, ExpressionEngine, WordPress, and Textpattern.
That's right, you heard it here first... I am a 'renowned' web designer! Another phrase for the ol' resume.
Help a brother out, my baby needs... stuff.
As this year draws to a close, your friends here at Sillyness would like to give you a couple of gifts.
When I moved from my previous design 'Fresh and Clean' I had decided to package it up as best I could and release it as a free theme for WordPress. Today that dream becomes a reality.
Also, as many of you know, I had been working on a new theme for Sillyness code named 'Believe'. As I have stated elsewhere I came to realize that I have shifted artistically back to the world of paint and charcoal; I gave up on my new design, and you guessed it, decided to package what I had up and release it as well.

You have got to see this little gem. A presentation on Web 2.0 from (24)slash7 that just keeps giving.
So far my favorite part is "Soilent Planning is People!" and "Look! A kitty!" Anyway go give it a read, well worth your time.
And incidentally, this will be the last post I make until the new version of Sillyness is live, code-named Believe. See you then.
There are a number of ways to use PHP with other web languages and technologies. I myself use PHP in some of my JS scripts and sometimes even in CSS files.
While surfing the net I found someone asking for a way to create 'color variables'. I commented outlining a way that this could be accomplished using PHP, but it was of coure garbled since I was using < and > in my comment.
Thankfully Bish found a tutorial on the net that said basically the same thing, but I thought I would write a little something up here as well, covering creating 'color constants' in your CSS, and more interesting, creating randomly generated paths for the backgrounds of DIV's.

At least for a little while.
I have heard your pleas, and today I answer them, good ol Fresh and Clean has returned, and will remain until I am able to finish my new Theme 'Believe'.
And as promised when I moved the site to K2 sporting Chocolate Raspberry, I am releasing it as free 'Style' :"(We have moved away from the term schemes to a more easily understandable terminology styles)": for those of you who are running K2. You can find it here.
Expect some small shakeups in the layout of Fresh and Clean over the next couple of days/weeks as I flesh out concepts for 'Believe'. Once I have finished work on the new theme, I am taking a much needed break from all non-work related web development :"(With the exception being K2 development, but once that is 1.0 I will most likely drop off the grid development-wise for a time. I need to spend more time with my wife and soon to be born child and I need to draw and paint more.)": and design, to focus on writing and art... and a few other surprises.
Let the tearing down and building up begin!
Well I am going to have to push off the last installment of my Publishing with LuLu series one more day.
Things have been crazy, and I need to see my wife people; don't worry Khaled I have the plugin just about done, so all I need to do is finishing testing, and finish the article and we are golden.
Tomorrow, I promise.
Announcing the immediate availability of K2 Beta One, quite possibly the most advanced Theme ever released for WordPress 1.5.2 powered websites.
I will let Michael do the talking since this is really his baby, but just let me say that I am proud of what has been created. This is like nothing the WP community has ever seen, and I think it is the future of Structure and Style Modification for WordPress.
Working with Michael Heilemann has been a blast; he is a gifted designer and a helluvah nice guy who cares about our little community, and gets the open source spirit. Use this, hammer it and let us know how you like it.
It feels good to have this out on the net, Kubrick is dead, long live K2.
As evidenced by the comments below this is apparently a third party product. What mystifies me is how it came to be on my machine, since I did not download and install it. Who knows. If you are a Safari user who would like this addition hop over to here and download it.
I updated my home machine to 10.4.2 tonight and after launching Safari I noticed something odd:
