You know it is time to just launch the thing, and take a breather.

I started out this particular design full of hope and energy; after about 3 days the energy was gone and hope was on a south bound train out of Chicago.  I think I am honestly losing my ability to design for the web.

I am planning on writing up an analysis of this design and the thoughts behind it once it is in a better state, but until then go look at some really good design, courtesy of Veloso the wonderboy and Matt the rough, smudgy... scratchy guy.

Anyway go, look at good design, and hope Mike gets his act together and launches a site sometime today.

Oh and for those of you out there not blessed with large screens and high res fear not; I am prepping an alternate version of the site that will be much kinder to your constrained proportions.

Well comments are now working again, but they are kinda ugly still.  I should have them 'not fugly' in the next hour or so, bear with me.  Oh and let the commenting begin!

I am in the middle of things with the reboot; alas a child and eleventy-billion projects means less time for this site as I would like.

I hope to have the complete rebooted Sillyness ready by the end of the day, but for right now, I need to be off to bed.  And yeah, the first thing I will be updating tomorrow is the comments form, so for right now, no commenting.

It's so lonely looking now, isn't it?

Well, well.  Google is serious about removing the need for desktop software aren't they?

I think Google Calendar is the first peiece of web software they have released that I am excited about.  Gmail was cool and all, but it really doesn't fit a need I have, other than to have one more email account of course.

But this, this could be something huge.  I was just impressed until I saw the commenting feature, then I was sold.  The ability to create a calendar of events, say a K2 Roadmap Calendar, and then share it with my two other cohorts in rhyme; then to know that we can comment on waypoints in the roadmap... that is the new hotness people.

Throw into the mix that the calendars can be subscribed to from iCal or Sunbird and you have just found the Holy Grail.  Oh and it also allows you to subscribe via XML.  Werd.

Now if they would just add an 'email me when a comment is added to my calendar entry' feature this will be nigh near perfect.

I was welcomed this morning with a flickr mail that let me know that someone had created a Being Chris J. Davis flickr group.

I have not laughed that much in a long time, so thanks LL.

As this year draws to a close, your friends here at Sillyness would like to give you a couple of gifts.

When I moved from my previous design 'Fresh and Clean' I had decided to package it up as best I could and release it as a free theme for WordPress.  Today that dream becomes a reality.

Also, as many of you know, I had been working on a new theme for Sillyness code named 'Believe'.  As I have stated elsewhere I came to realize that I have shifted artistically back to the world of paint and charcoal; I gave up on my new design, and you guessed it, decided to package what I had up and release it as well.

I had hinted before that the change in design here was the harbinger of more drastic, and I hope profound things to come here at Sillyness.  I guess it is time to talk a little about that now.

To really have this story hit home, you need to know a bit about who I am, and where I have come from.  While in college I studied art, not because it was the only thing that I could do, but because of all things that I could do, it was the one that promised to allow me to communicate with people long after I had passed on.

Well as you can see there has been a change here at Sillyness; namely that I am running Fauna by my pal Joen.

Joen is one massively talented designer, and a helluvah nice guy to boot, so I thought I would take Fauna for a test drive.  I have to say I am impressed.  Believe is in a state of sorry dis-repair and I am beginning to realize that I have no hope of finishing it.  I hope to write about this in more detail in the days to come, but quickly I will say this, my focus has begun to shift again to the world of fine art, away from the world of web design.

What this means for me will take many posts to say, and I look forward to writing them, but for now I must finish packing for ApacheCon

You have got to see this little gem.  A presentation on Web 2.0 from (24)slash7 that just keeps giving.

So far my favorite part is "Soilent Planning is People!" and "Look! A kitty!" Anyway go give it a read, well worth your time.

And incidentally, this will be the last post I make until the new version of Sillyness is live, code-named Believe.  See you then.
