Hey guys, long time no blog eh?

Things have been very busy for me lately which is a good, but annoying thing.  Michael Heilemann and I are writing a chapter for a Friends of Ed book about blog design that will be coming out in December, so my time has been taken up by that as well as a couple of side projects.  I will let you know when the book is official and I can link to an amazon pre-order link.

One of my favorite things to do is help out with projects that my friends are doing.  Most of my peers are great designers but a little light on the haxx0r side of things so I am always stoked when I can lend a hand in that area.

One of those “help a brotha out” projects is finally live, and I have to say that I am amped about it.  If you are a fan of lifehacker then this will be right up your alley.  LifeHut is a new venture by a fellow 9ruler that he hopes:

I want LifeHut to come off as a ‘guidebook’ that may help answer some questions or lead my visitors in a direction they didn’t think of taking before. Maybe the content will make sense, maybe you will think I am full of ‘you know what’.

I really think this site has the chance to go somewhere and be something.  Run over there and get in on the ground floor.

If you post about this on Twitter, please use the hashtag #silly506.

First, congrats on the chapter of the book!
Next, well worked on Lifehut. Very good site! Your plugins are very much apparent there :) Well done!

Kates.

I did that work specifically for LifeHut, so it is up to them whether or not it is released as a plugin. I think however there might already be one out there on the web.

I will check around and see what I can find, and I will also see about releasing the code running on LifeHut as well.

Send to a friend functionality is cool. Gives me a way to send something relevant to a friend. Do you plan to release it as a plugin?

Soooo, that is what has been up with you. I guess my email never made it to you eh? I’ve been wondering why I haven’t heard much out of you lately my friend. Anyway, LifeHut is very nicely done. Great work with the hax0ry. I’ll be visiting often ;)

Hey Shawn,

No your email didn’t make it. Bah! Yeah I have been swamped both at work and at home. I hope to be more… available soon.

Hope all is well.

It’s good to know that tech people like you are not all tech after all. Topics at LifeHut are good to read.

Yes there is a plugin already for Wordpress.

However, the contact form I use on my website was simply tweaked to handle the send to a friend functionality.

I still don’t know if using the ‘plugin’ would have been quicker or not.

But Chris did a great job of setting up some variables and making sure the send to a friend worked.

Thanks for the link and mention Chris.

I can’t say thank you enough for all the hardwork you helped me with on this site.

Whether its the Send to a Friend form, the ratings system, or Wordpress in general, I really think its awesome just putting up with me :) hehe

I am excited about the site and just hope I can provide fresh content every day that can be helpful to SOMEONE out there in this little world of ours.

What a dandy site — the design nudged me to give it a serious look; the concept and content (and oh, those comments!) will keep me going back.

Good job, folks.

That is by far one of the “cooler” looking sites I’ve seen. Of course, this one is too.

As for the content…I’ll dive into that later.
