Just a quick note as way of an update.
I realize it has been so long since my last update that I probably have lost all of my audience, but hey I guess this means that I get to build a new one. I finally was able to get connectectivity at home last night, whoopty crap, right? Since I was supposed to have my xDSL up and running more than two and a half weeks ago! But I digress, the blog will be moving back to the server at home, and things returning to normal shortly.
Well as you can see the site is still at the temporary URL.
After getting in the house yesterday I found that the xDSL was not running, but the phone was, after speaking with an Alltel rep I was informed that they had not even sent out a technician to verify the line was xDSL capapble since they are short staffed at this time.
Now I really have no problem with that in theory; Alltel is suffering through union negotiations, also known as a strike, and so they are indeed "short handed". My problem lies in the fact that I was told two weeks ago when I arranged for my service to be moved that it would take three days more to move the xDSL than it would to move the basic service.
My phone was scheduled to be activated by the 3rd of July, and it was; it is now the 16th of July and I still don't have any connectivity. It seems to me that this is taking a little longer than three days.
Well as you might have noticed, you have been re-directed to a subdomain of my corporate site ConceptHaus Design Studios
This is only temporary, the Davis clan is moving digs this week and that has neccesitated this temporary move. I in my bid for 上帝 オタク-dom, I host my blog on my own server from my home. While this gives me the highest level of control over what goes on with the site, it also creates problems like the one I face today; namely should I just shut down the site until I have moved all the hardware and re-created the network, or jsut move it temporarily to a new site while I perform said circus act?
Well obviously since you are reading this I have opted for the second option.
See you again when all the moving and shaking is over!
Yeah that is correct.
If you look closely the site might appear a little different than it did five minutes ago; the previous layout found here, was created using tables and CSS, because I was lazy that day. The layout you are seeing currently is all CSS goodness, that's right no more tables.
I have been thinking lately that I need to restructure this site into not only a platform for MHG and I to spout off, but also a venue to put forth some of our ideas and to share some of our experience and expertise with the world. I am considering turning ChrisJDavis.org into a portal that serves not only opinion, but tutorials on animation, film production, drawing and web design.. etc; While also publishing articles on issues that catch our fancy as it were; possibly a webcomic or two as well... haven't decided yet.
I am looking for opinions on this, good and bad to help me decide what to do, also if you think this is a worthwhile idea give us some ideas and such. Alternately you can use trackbacks and pingbacks to publish your thoughts on this, I will check them all of course.
That is it for now.
Okay, I don't want to start a s**t storm here or anything but I read this over at Karl's and had to say something.
This is not meant to be a jab at any of my Protestant readers, I love you and thanks for stopping by; it just kills me that in this sort of discussion none of the Eastern or Roman posters brought up one simple point.
There have been two great schisms in the Christian Church, one in 1054 between the Eastern and the Western Catholic Church, giving rise to what is now known as the Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic Church; and one in 1517 between the followers and supporters of then Father Martin Luther and the Roman Catholic Church.
What I would like to point out is that in the 500 or so years between the Great Schism and the Protestant Reformation there were only the two Churches, agreeing on the place of Holy Tradition and that "the meaning of Scripture is understood *through* and *in* the sacramental life of the ecclesia" as Karl puts it.
Now in the 500+ years since the Protestant Reformation there has risen 60,000+ unique Protestant denominations... 60,000. How well has that doctrine served the Protestant community I wonder.
And please if you are going to comment on this be intelligent; I felt that Sola Scriptura was retarded when I was a Protestant Evangelical so don't play the "you're Orthodox" card. It always seemed to me that Sola Scriptura was a very dangerous and destructive doctrine. Period.
And yes Mr. Hibbity I realize what your opinion if this would be, this is just mine. :)
Well as you can see we are back, and hopefully you can tell we are better than ever.
I have upgraded the site to the b2 variant Wordpress, which among other things bosts a signifigant speed increase and some nifty features.
Not all of the features of the site, custom and not so custom are up and running but hopefully by tomorrow they will be.
