Well Kevin has started another bruh haha(sp?), this time concerning the name of the gecko based cocoa browser for MacOS X.
He and I have a dispute regarding the labeling of the .app. I contend that it is Chimera Navigator, since the .app is labeled Navigator in the finder, and when running, as I showed him, the file menu uses the name Navigator. The caveat is that the browser window says Chimera.
What really gets me is that his argument hinges on the fact that David Hyatt only uses the title chimera and he has never seen it mentioned as anything else anywhere else. That may be well and good, but the fact remains still that the coders hacking on the project have seen fit to label it Navigator in more that one place and if the OS views it as such, then for me at least it is.
Now all that is left, is for Hyatt to set us straight. David if you please.
Well, well. It seems that my response to Kevin, was met with some dissatisfaction, and so I would like to officially list the path to directly link to his blog.
I would like to point out that he said that I linked to his boring Main site, as opposed to his blog. Shouldn't all of your site be intersting and updated regularly? Wouldn't that be grand? Actual life on the web, not just build it, launch it, and forget it?
Maybe it is just me.
Wow, my friend Kevin, whom I have mentioned here before has added me to his link list, so greetings to you if you are linking from there.
It is really funny, last night I mentioned to him that I thought it was somewhat suspect that he had been linked from my site for over 5 months, but that I on the other hand had no link from his site. Ever. So now he has added me to his link list finally and made a big deal out of it.
Sheesh
Greetings again everyone. One little blurb this morning.
Time to pay the piper as it were. This site is powered in part by the b2, and by a nice little applescript app, Kung Tunes. There I said it.
Wow. This is a great idea. I groked this from glish.com, apparently there is a project underway to map the owners of various blogs in the city using the subway as a road map.
That would be really nice if it picked up. You could be aware of the people blogging in your geographical location, and possibly build a better sense of community on the web.
Go check it out here
Well I do apologize to the three people who visit this site for the lack of updates, but my computer was confused. It seems that telling a Powerbook G3 Wallsreet running MacOS X.1.5 to boot from am external firewire HD is a faux pas.
So from the 20th until yesterday I was unable to use my computer. You see, one of the thousand ways that Apple computers and software are far superior to wintel/x86 boxes is that all the settings specific to the functioning of the system are stored in PRAM, or paramter RAM. This special cache of RAM is located on the logic board, and is not accesable by the common man/woman. This is good, because anytime your comp crashes, your system wide settings that allow the box to function are safely stored away, impervious to corruption.
Unlike wintel boxes that keep this information resident in the system core, mainly the HD. How many Wintel/Microsoft users have seen the evil message " Your system registry has been corrupted, please restart and use registry checker to repair it." Gives me chills.
So we have established that pram is good, "but why are you upset with it Chris?" You might ask. Well in my case it was evil. The pram had saved the info that directed my system to look to the pcmcia firewire card for its boot system. That being the case nothing I could do would persuade it to look elsewhere. And without the assistance of a help menu, you know on account that my system was down, I was screwed.
Long story short, I finally was able to get to a freinds house and look up the lovely command, reset pram. Then all was well in the universe again. Finally.
Well as so many people are doing now I thought I would share my thoughts on Clones.
First of all I would like to say that this movie more than made up for the shortcomings of Phantom Menace. Lucas really pulled his butt out of the fire with this one. Unlike a lot of fans I thought the romance story line was pretty well done, coming from a dialogue hack the size of Lucas. I tip my hat to the two other indivduals who are credited with the story as well. ILM continually amaze me with the level of skill they pour into their work.
Douglas Chan and the boys and girls out there work there fingers to the bone to realize the visions of George Lucas, and really deserve the pay that they get. Now that we have seen the origins of the Clone Wars, one would have to ask the question, are the storm troopers in IV, V and VI clones as well? I mean really? In Clones the "cloners" speak of the genetic manipulation they performed to make the clones more commandable. Wouldn't this make them weak minded and easily controlled through the Force?
But anywhoo, we will have to wait three more years to find out the answers to these and other questions. Poop.
